About SWOC

Founded in 1986, the South West Opera Company Inc. (SWOC) is a community-based performing arts organisation dedicated to bringing outstanding music and theatre to audiences across the South West of Western Australia.

Our mission is to produce and perform high-quality classical and contemporary music with voice and instruments in a spirit of friendship and teamwork, making exceptional live performance accessible to communities throughout the South West.

Despite our name, we're about much more than opera. Our diverse annual program includes musical theatre, opera, operetta, choral concerts, Christmas performances with live orchestra, outdoor concerts, community events, and special collaborations. Every two years, we present a major theatrical production, continuing a tradition of acclaimed performances including Carmen, The Phantom of the Opera, Fiddler on the Roof, Beauty and the Beast, and Les Misérables.

SWOC is proud to nurture performers of all ages and experience levels. Alongside our adult company, our SWOClets youth choir provides young singers with opportunities to develop their skills, build confidence, and experience the joy of live performance. Many former members have gone on to study and work professionally in the performing arts at institutions such as WAAPA, West Australian Opera, and internationally.
